When Matthew and Hugh Grant were recently shooting for Guy Richie’s forthcoming film The Gentleman, they thought of this special plan for the two.

Matthew McConaughey Reveals He’s Trying To Set Up His Mother With Hugh Grant’s Dad. As both Mary Kathlene McCabe, McConaughey’s mother, as well as James Grant, Hugh’s father happen to be single, it was quite natural for Hugh and Matthew to come up with the idea of sending them on a date together. Speaking to the reporters from Entertainment Tonight, the 50-year old actor revealed that whereas Hugh’s father is 91 years old, his own mother is 88 years of age.

Before proceeding to reveal that Grant’s father and his own mother would be accompanying each other for a “red hot” outing in the coming week, the actor remarked, “Yeah, why not?”

The news marked its beginning from the moment Matthew opened up about his Christmas holiday plans including his 88 year old mother before the reporters from Mashable. Grant had questioned him, “would your 88-year-old mother like a nice 91-year-old Englishman?”

Mathhew declared that as his dad had passed away back in 1992, while Mary’s second husband had died two years ago, she was single, and hence ready to mingle. Matthew and Hugh had recently wrapped up the shooting of The Gentleman, set in London, which has the two aforementioned stars apart from other supporting actors like Eddie Marsan, Collin Farrell, Jeremy Strong, Michelle Dockery, and Henry Golding, apart from others.

Matthew McConaughey first came into the spotlight following his appearance in the Richard Linklater-directed cult-classic, Dazed and Confused, which released in 1993. Matthew even bagged an Academy Award for his outstanding portrayal of a cowboy named Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyer’s Club who contracts AIDS during the onset of the epidemic.

On the other hand, Hugh Grant first shot to fame after his performance in Maurice, the 1987 film. Following his appearance in Four Weddings and A Funeral, the 1994 film, the actor earned worldwide fame. Hugh enjoyed the status of one of the biggest English stars for years on stretch, and later dated Elizabeth Hurley, which was the cynosure in the tabloids for quite some time.
