Amid the lockdown due to the pandemic, Netflix documentary Tiger King has topped the popularity chart. And Carole Baskin finally agreed for an interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, which turned out to be a lie as Tiger King’s Carole Baskin gets tricked into doing fake Jimmy Fallon interview by YouTubers Josh Pieters and Archie Manners.

According to Us Weekly, the YouTubers had reached out to Baskin last month pretending to work for a production company that booked guests on talk shows. Though she declined them at first, the Big Cat Rescue CEO finally agreed for the interview.

She has been dodging any public appearance since the docu-series started streaming as she explained that the filmmakers portrayed her in a bad light. And she only agreed to do the interview after they confirmed that the popular fan theory that she killed her second husband won’t be brought up and she could only chat about her cats.

Pieters and Manners pulled out the prank quite cleverly. They informed Baskin that as Jimmy was filming his part at his home, she would only hear his voice and wouldn’t be able to see him. Then they used old clips of Fallon interviewing other celebrities and talking specifically about cats.

They quite successfully executed the whole thing with Baskin never doubting a bit. They posted the video on Saturday on their channel where Baskin talks about the difficulties she was going through during this pandemic with her cat sanctuary. As she had to cut down on the staff, she and the remaining volunteers had to work double-time to take care of the 55 exotic cats in the sanctuary.

She said that she wasn’t sure if they will be able to do the tours ever again even after the crisis ends.

In the interview, she promoted the Big Cat Safety Act, a proposed law that aiming to stop big cat abuse. After the interview, the YouTubers duo persuaded her to put on her flower crown and played a clip with photos of her with her third husband, Howard Baskin.

Baskin took the prank sportily saying she wasn’t angry at Pieters and Manners and said that she suspected something was amiss.

She explained that though she suspected that the questions were tapped, she had no idea that it would turn out to be such a fun prank. She appreciated their cleverness and the way presented the interview which was not in any way ‘mean-spirited’. Moreover, she had a good laugh over this.

Tiger King is currently available on Netflix.
