Biopic on Singer Robbie Williams by the ‘Greatest Showman’ Director is in the Making

Singer Robbie Williams is getting the movie treatment in a film that is set to be called ‘Better Man’.

The legacy of a biopic on singers is becoming a huge trend and also garnering successful results. Robbie Williams is the latest musician to follow the league of musicians such as Freddie Mercury and Elton John whose career and life were part of two of the biggest projects in recent years. Their biopics called Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman presented the audience with a captivating cinematic experience. With Williams, the stakes are high and fans are waiting with bated breath.

The film, Better Man will be directed under the experience and guidance of Michael Gracey. The movie is being described as a fantastical coming-of-age story about the international singer and songwriter. Michael Gracey is popularly known for directing the musical blockbuster, The Greatest Showman featuring Hugh Jackman. The movie was a critical and commercial hit and the director earned many accolades for his outstanding work. He is the director for Better Man is paving the way for widespread anticipation.

The idea for the project was conceived as an output of hours of conversation between Williams and Gracey. Regarding the soundtrack of the movie, it will feature some of the biggest hits of the artist’s career. The film will be directed by Gracey in association with first-time screenwriter Oliver Cole and Simon Gleeson. The production for the film is set to commence in summer. However, what is still not clear regarding the storyline or plot of the movie is that whether the inspiration for the movie comes from personal experiences and struggles.

There still has not been any official announcement regarding the details in the movie. However, the moviemakers have promised that the singer will be portrayed and analyzed originally without changing much of the real-life stories. According to Gracey who described the documentary from his perspective, it is not a story about a prodigy who suddenly changed the course of the world with their brilliance, art, and creativity. Rather, this movie is about a common man, the Everyman, who dreamt big and did not hesitate to follow his dreams. Because of his passion, resilience, conviction, and relentless efforts, he has reached an incredible place in his career as an artist and musician for people around the world.

Robbie Williams, born in Stoke-on-Trent, rose to international fame at the age of 16 as one of the pop sensations of the boy band, Take That. He left the band in 1995 to pursue a solo career where he achieved even greater success both commercially and critically that established him as one of the most talented and enigmatic songwriters and performers in all of Britain.

The film was announced after the singer admitted to his feud with Noel and Liam Gallagher is what pushed him to move to Los Angeles. His contribution to pop music will be appreciated and acknowledged yet again in Better Man.
