About the Author
Ruth G. Hatch, born in Southern Maine, is the youngest of nine children to Blanche G. and Winfred T. Hilton. She left public school at seventeen, marrying William R. Hatch, and pursued education through night school, earning her GED. By twenty-one, she had three children. Ruth continued her education at York County Community College and later at Daytona Beach Community College West Campus, and Nova Southeastern University, Orlando Campus, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education with a specialty in Varying Exceptionalities. She worked full-time in education training for severely handicapped individuals. Mrs. Hatch taught at Deland Middle School in Florida until retiring. Her first husband passed away in 2012, and she later married Ralph T. Mead, currently residing in Zephyrhills, Florida.
